Prof Babson Ajibade

Babson Ajibade is Professor of African Visual Culture and Visual Anthropology in the Department of Visual Arts and Technology, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Cross River University of Technology, Calabar. He holds a PhD (Scene Design) from the University of Calabar and a PhD (Social Anthropology) from the University of Basel, Switzerland. Funded with a grant from the Swiss Government (2004), he did a doctorate on the popular video films in Nigeria.

He has been national Consultant to organisations such as Family Health International (FHI), the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) and the Malaria Action Plan for States (MAPS) on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), Review of Strategy Documents and media materials development and production.

He has been a Member, Technical Work Group (TWG) for the National HIV/AIDS Strategic Framework (NSF). He was Consultant (Visualisation) to the online Project, Trading Faces: Recollecting Slavery Project, a consortium project developed by Future Histories, Talawa Theatre Company and the V & A Theatre Collections – supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Access to Archives, London. He is an innovator, and has invented several equipment and machineries used in industrial contexts.

His research interest is visual culture, popular culture, popular arts, media and youth studies. A painter, he has held exhibitions in Lagos, Benin, Calabar, Basel, and Belgium. He is the author of several scholarly articles in textbooks and academic journals. His textbooks include Arts, Design and Promotional Communication (2021) and Audio-Visual Media and Techniques in Public Relations (2002) and Creative and Media Arts: A Practical Source Book (2014). His latest book is Video Films in Nigeria: Citizenship and Contested Identities (Forthcoming). He is Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology.


Prof Bojor Enamhe

Bojor Enamhe is a Professor of Art History/Art Management, an art Consultant, and currently Director Centre for Educational Services (CES), Cross River University of Technology, Calabar, Nigeria. A research scholar, artist with influence on creative development of students, and graduates. A contemporary artist, whose research interest is in cultural studies, art development and history of art in Africa, she has built a culture of efficiency and contributed immensely to the development of education.

From the perspective of training and capacity building, she lectures undergraduate and post-graduate students. An adjunct academic staff at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Nigeria. Combining intellectual and humanistic vision, she explores the various dimensions of creative consciousness. As a teacher, she has also held leadership positions, Head of Department (HOD) 2022, Sub-Dean Faculty of Environmental Sciences 2007, Director of Quality Assurance 2014, Director of Academic Planning (DAP) 2016, Founder of Art Incubator, a Non-Governmental Organization towards achieving entrepreneurial skills and economic development since 2017.

Pioneer Chair of Association of Female Artists in Academics (AFAA), she has published in several academic journals, books, exhibition catalogues, manuals. Organized, curated, several art exhibitions and markets art products. She serves in Microfinance Bank as Director. For her contributions to education, her students have presented her with awards and honours. She is a counsellor in the Church, Chapel of Redemption in University of Calabar (UNICAL).


Emekpe Okokon-Ita Omon

Emekpe Okokon-Ita Omon is from Akpap Okoyong in Cross River State Nigeria. She teaches sculpture in Cross River University of Technology and is a practicing artist in the city of Calabar. Emekpe is a graduate from the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, with a BA and MFA degrees in Sculpture.

She is presently doing her PhD (Art Education) in University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She has participated in many group Art Exhibitions and also presented papers in several conferences in and out of Nigeria. She has taught in the Cross River State College of Education, for a period of ten years, and with the University (CRUTECH) for the past seventeen years. Her area of research interest is WASTE for the production of sculpture. She is presently the Head of the Department.


Dr FRANK. I. UTI

Dr FRANK. I. UTI born in Umutu, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. he received his early education at Edo College and Emojom Primary School in Benin, Edo State. He graduated with an NCE in graphics in 1986, a BA in education in 1989, and an MA in education in 2006. He works as a graphic designer. He's been at NGA 2012, Rebranding Nigeria via Art, and NAFEST 1994. He is presently the head of graphics unit.
